An armed man has barricaded himself inside a restaurant in the western German city of Saarbruecken. A police elite counterterrorism unit has been scrambled to storm the building, German media report.

A police official told Reuters that the man seemed to be psychologically disturbed and there were no reason to believe the incident was terrorism-related.
The man is believed to be the son-in-law of the restaurant’s owner, the official also said. He is originally from Macedonia, but has lived in Germany for a long time.
Police negotiators and psychologists are trying to establish communications with the man, German media reported.
Bild has been showing live footage from the site, in which a street has been cordoned off and a police vehicle can also be seen.
