Following it's resolution on 17 December 1999,the United Nations General Assembly resolved that every 12 August be declared as International Youth Day.
Today marks the International Youth Day with an interesting theme of "The Road to 2030;Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production''

Cross River State was not left out in the celebration of the International Youth Day.Today in Calabar the State capital was done a solidarity march to mark the day.Participating in the march was members of the NYSC community lead by the state coordinator,staffs of Industrial Training Fund(ITF),NGOs,and youths from across the state.

Sustainable consumption according to UN entails the use of products
and services that meet the basic needs of communities while safeguarding
the needs of future generations.
Activities to mark this year's international day in Calabar includes a solidarity walk,planting of over 1000 trees in the state.
