Enlightener’s Concept Initiative (ECI) is a not for profit, non-governmental organization borne out of a desire to raise awareness and draw attention towards the menace of Teenage Pregnancy and also help to curb the spread of HIV infections.
The organization had her annual event ‘Vantage Point’ on the 2ndof December 2016 in Calabar, Cross River State to commemorate World AIDS Day, with the theme “NO EXCUSE”.
The event was organized in partnership with American Corner Calabar and Girls Power Initiative and had in attendance about 100 participants; 60 representatives from 7 secondary schools in Calabar, 30 from National Youth Service Corps members, 10 from Medical Women Association of Nigeria (Cross River State Chapter) and 20 youths.
As a build up to the event, we requested representatives from 8 secondary schools in Calabar to participate in an essay competition on the topic “NO EXCUSE FOR TEENAGE PREGNANCY”. We had 22 entries and Miss Rachael Ekerete from Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria Secondary School emerged as the overall winner.
