A house belonging to a retired police chief and now the chief security officer to Kogi State University Anyigba, Mr Aurelius Yusuf Adejoh razed down by fire at about 11:30pm on Tuesday night in Lokoja,the capital city of Lokoja.
The fire was said to have started from an AC in one of the bedrooms. The Federal Fire Service men who were contacted by the DPO of C Division Police Station in the estate(200 units Olobayo Housing Estate Lokoja) only came at about 30 minutes after the fire started and it was indeed very late to salvage the situation. They Fire Men ran out of water and had to go and refill only to come back 2 hours later.
The good news is that no life was lost in the fire incident. An eye witness at the scene of incident said the fire was earlier detected by one of the kids who called the attention of the father who was still awake watching a program on television. He immediately cut the electricity supply to the house and started evacuating his family members.
